The month starts, as usual, with the first of July, but quickly moves on to the 4th of July. This year Katia and I did a couple of different things. We took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island where some friends of hers had motored up and were spending the holiday. This is the view from the ferry....
and these are her friends. I know
Caroline (2nd from the right) from before -- but newly met her
husband, son and daughter-in-law. We had a great time chatting
and sitting on there new boat.
We then went off to Brett's house, where we can see the fireworks as they shoot them over Lake Union. In particular, we got a blanket, wine and went on the roof to watch. Good thing we used the motorcycle that day, the drive home was crowded.

This is the sunset and the fireworks.
Ann and Steve
came for a quick visit, so we took them up to the natural hot
springs at Steven's Pass. As you can see, it is incredibly
beautiful.
Kind of reminds me of Feuntes Georginas in Guatemala (see February)
Christine and Scott also visited us, but no pictures :(
Same with Grandma and Grandpa.... :(
The next big project was to go to Black Point, Bahamas for their annual regatta. They race little boats there across the bay. Katia and I discovered it on our Bahamas Trip, and it our favorite island. So we had decided to return this year and participate.
Here I am
sanding down the hulls on our deck. A super special thanks to Rick for the use of his
shop and tools. He's a regular Tim Taylor :)
These are the
hulls all hollowed out. I used a router (er, Rick's router) and
spent about 6 hours bent over the hulls.
This is the
amount of mess I made at Rick's hollowing those hulls out. I set
a new record for dirt. By far.
And here is the boat all put together with sails and everything....
Alas, tho, we didn't finish in time
(the day we were supposed to leave we were trying the rudders for
the first time!), and the boat will have to wait for its maiden
race at next years festival.
What summer would not be complete without a wedding :) So here is my friend Kris finally tying the knot in Wisconsin. It was a *hot* day, but a morning wedding. She looked great, of course.
Lastly we reach the miscellaneous column. First a quick update on our new kitty, Burkina. He is growing like a weed, and here are a couple of shots of him and Benin. The first is quite a common site around here. The food intake (and litter box outtake) has grown by 2, not by 1/3!
And somewhere in there Dave and Shannon bought a house, and we
got an emergency phone call to help them move.... tonight. :-)
