I've just gotten started with woodworking. I've made a couple of cute baby puzzles for Caroline and the twins, and I've done a good bit of rough work, building a cold frame for the garden and a light table for Gem's mom to grow flowers on. I'd like to make more toys for the family kids as they grow up, and also do some finer furniture making. Here's a few shots of some of the stuff I've been doing.
This is a lazy kate, a gadget used by home spinners when turning multiple single strands of spun fiber into a thread. Since the person I was making this for (Gem's mom, Sue Lasswell) has cashmere goats and spins their fibre, I put a cutout of a goat on each side.
This is my first real project, a mantle clock from Woodsmith Magazine. It's made of curly maple, also known as tiger maple because of its striped pattern.

![]() Yes, I know it's a swallowtail with the coloration of a monarch. But it's pretty! |
