NORWAY

We arrived in Norway at just the right time to see all the farmers bundle up their crops. They use these big white plastic bundles that look like huge marshmallows strewn across a field!
Oslo is a beautiful port city.
We went to a Viking Ship museum where there were remains of real Viking ships that had sunk and been discovered years later.
We just had to stop at Lillehammer, since Tricia's half-sister is named after the town! The entire place is a tribute to the 1984 Olympics.
We visited the large park/museum devoted to the sculptor Vigeland. It was really amazing to see all the larger-than-life sized stone sculptures. This is a human obelisk he designed.
On our way through the Norwegian countryside we stopped for a hike on a glacier. The instructor made sure we were all securely tied together just in case someone fell! Eeek!
We had to hike long and hard to get to the famous 'blue ice' that is spectacular to see. Most of the ice is covered with grime and is sort of brown and dirty. You have to go higher up to get to the good stuff.
Kris demonstrates his expect climbing technique!
After an hour or so we turned around and hiked back down the glacier. That was a heck of a lot easier than hiking up!!
No trip to Norway would be complete without a boat trip down a fjord.
We found a nice, sunny, quiet spot to have a picnic one day. Norway had some of the best weather we had seen in a while, so we took advantage of it.
We finally crossed to the other side of Norway and reached the town of Bergen. It was a beautiful little city, and worked hard to preserve it's old waterfront buildings. On our visit to Legoland in Denmark, we saw this city replicated in miniature. While we were in Bergen we celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary!
One day we took a tram up the hillside to get a panoramic view of Bergen. They had a tacky souvenir shop at the top, and this guy.
After leaving Bergen we headed South to catch a ferry to Denmark. As we drove, we passed this area of lakes that were amazing. The water was so still and calm that it reflected the mountains perfectly! It was uncanny to see in person. Here is just one part of a three-shot panoramic we took. Later we discovered that the region is mentioned in only a few tourbooks, and we just happened to be lucky enough to spot the phenomenon on our own.
