We've been fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to some interesting corners of the world and we love taking pictures.
Here are some of our favorites...

Image Notes
In the last few years, more and more of our images are captured digitally.
We each carry a Canon Digital Elph. shooting in the 'L' mode (1600x1200) onto a 1Gb CF-I card which gives each camera a large image capacity. We have been very pleased with the image quality and the form factor is small and compact, so we almost always have a camera at hand. There is even an underwater-housing available for snorkeling or use on boats and beaches. Finally, by having a pair of similar cameras, we can share our spare NB-1LH batteries if necessary. You can find a detailed review at dpreview.com.
Since Nov 2002, we also use Nikon Digital SLR bodies with Lexar 4 Gb CF cards shooting mostly in 'Fine' [.jpg] (2000x3008) mode for a capacity of ~1000 images. This gives us the power and flexibility of using our existing Nikon SLR lenses and there is no 'digital camera shutter delay'.
Film images are captured using Nikon N80 or N90 AF bodies and/or a Nikon-FM (manual) body. Most are scanned at the time of development.
Our preferred camera configuration for travel is the
Nikon D300 with the 18 - 200 VR lens.
The D300's sensor exhibits very little noise, even at high the ISO speeds needed for wildlife photography.
We have also found the Amazon.com Kindle to be an indispensible piece of travel gear. It weighs 10.5 oz and holds the equivalent of an entire suitcase full of physical books. It is very easy to hold and read from. It is just as immersive as a book. We both gave Kindles a tough workout on our 2008 trip to India. We endured several long (6 - 12 hr) bus-rides in India over rough roads - it often felt as though we were being driven in a cocktail shaker - but with the Kindle, I was able to simply increase the font size and keep reading. I would have been unable to read a physical book with smallish print due to the shaking.
