The Age of Sail
I have recently become addicted to novels about naval adventures during the Napoleonic and Revolutionary War period. Fortunately, there are several well-written series of novels in this genre, so there are plenty of books available to keep me occupied for some time to come. My favorite of these is the Aubrey/Maturin series, written by Patrick O'Brian. My next favorite are Alexander Kent's Richard Bolitho novels, although they seem harder to find, and harder to put into chronological order. Then there is the classic Hornblower series by C.S. Forester. I've just started to read the Nathaniel Drinkwater series by Richard Woodman. Follow the links to my reviews of these series, and links to Amazon.com Books, since I've had difficulty finding earlier books in these series at local bookstores.
